Bunnygrooming

...started a few years ago when I realized that there was a need for this service.
People adopting and buying bunnies as pets didn't always know how to groom them, or even that they needed to groom them.
But bunnies do need grooming, and not knowing how to do it can create some big expensive problems for bunny owners....
and painful, shorter lives for bunnies!

At the same time I started volunteering at the Agoura Animal Shelter, not knowing they had bunnies. When I realized they did I requested 'Bunny Only" duty. I learned a lot from EJ, aka, the Bunny Man. Slowly I was absorbing more and more information about bunnies.
When people adopted bunnies I would tell them how to groom and what to do....but often they were squeamish about it, and asked me if I would come do it. That's how this all got started. And that's how I became known as the "bunny lady".
(To read about how I got started loving bunnies, go to "The Story" page. To see pictures of bunnies, go to the Photos page.)

Then I started reading and studying as much as I could, both online and from books I ordered. I called vets to find out what they knew, and found many didn't know too much about bunnies. Rabbits are not a vet school special!  I visited local bunny shelters and bunny rescues. I talked to anyone I knew that knew anything. I even signed up twice for vet tech school, and both times the classes were full and I couldn't get in!

There is a lot of misinformation out there about bunnies! I wanted to know the truth and the best information for keeping bunnies healthy....so I have kept on researching and continue to do so. There is a lot we all still don't know about bunnies......but there is a lot we do know. The House Rabbit Society (rabbit.org) is the very best site for information about bunnies today.
And Dana Krempel is one of the best experts on rabbits and has a lot of information online that can be found through the House Rabbit Society's site.

This site however, is not a medical site. I make no claims to be informed in the medical arena. However, there will be some great links to awesome medical sites on my links page.
This site is for pet bunny owners who want to know what to do for their bunnies in the ways of nutrition, behavior and environment, so their bunnies can have a long, happy and healthy life! I am making this site because I adore bunnies and want each and every one to have a wonderful life with a wonderful family who knows what they have to do to have the best and happiest bunny!
I hope I can help people in that way! Bunnies are the most enchanting animal I have ever known, and I feel blessed to be able to work with them daily!

These are the six Clouds that came to the shelter. 4 were adopted. The last two ended up being at the shelter for over a year. Then the shelter said their time was up. So, I adopted them and took them home with me.
Cloudy (#4) and DellaRose  (formerly Cloud #5) live with me now. Both are female. They lived together for two years...then they got into a huge fight when I was away on a trip. They did so much damage to each other that I have not been able to re-bond them. So for now, they live separately within my home. They seem quite happy to be the master of each of their own domaines!
This is a beautiful Rex female (Fawn) that I was grooming at the Shelter where I volunteer. She was adopted!
